Pets
You are a rat. As stubborn as a mule. As cunning as a fox. You are a pig. You speak like a parrot. You are as fat as a cow. You have the sight of an eagle. You treat me like a dog… Men understand themselves as animals, specially if we talk about their behavior, physical characteristics, and description of their passions. There is something that make us look at ourselves in the mirror of nature and identify with our neighbors and coevals: the simplification of the world. For, even though we keep thinking that animals do not love, do not despise, do not empathize, do not have willpower… and we know that the behavior of nature is not good or bad, and that it lacks of ethical or moral consciousness… who can assure us that our system of behavior is unique in the universe, a gift from God to His most imperfect creation? Time will come to teach us and perhaps our pets will indicate the way again.
Memory of a Crime
By what strategies can a mistake and its consequences be reduced or removed? Each one of the witnesses save the memory of the incident shaped by our own experience and imagination; there is more than one account. So how can we achieve to take the chain of proofs out of our memory and find out who of us are to be blamed?
Please, don’t get me wrong
One of the main characteristics of every human being is our capacity for imitation.
Most of our behavior and tastes are copied from the rest.
In everything we call “civilization” there is just a little bit of invention and a lot of imitation.
(F. Savater)
At First Sight
How could I explain that everything we looked at, despite the efforts, only allowed us to smile? Sometimes I realized that it was not smart, the countless faces staring at us looked totally empty and I decided to leave.
4th Street
Every word has a gesture,
a gesture may be a kiss,
a kiss may well be a flower,
a flower may be a good gesture,
a kiss is a gesture without words
Men move walls too
The dancers descend a wall or a building adopting positions that make us reflect on the plane on which we are.
